Booksicals' SEL through the Arts Workshop

Expand your afterschool's staff social emotional learning toolkit using picture books as the source for performing arts activities.
Participants will:
  1. Explore the  elements of a picture book:  character, themes, stories, colors, emotions, words, rhythm and more
  2. Explore creating their own SEL based arts enrichment activities for their students using picture books
  3. Collaborate in teams to do one of these arts acitivities:  write lyrics, improvise dialogues or create dance movements inspired by the elements of a Booksical picture book
  4. Perform their original songs, dialogues, dance movements for eachother
This workshop will help participants:
  1. Develop creative confidence
  2. Build collaboration skills
  3. Expand their tool kit for SEL activities 
  4. Bring back new lesson plan ideas for their classrooms

Minimum 6 participants is required for a workshop
